Welcome to our Blog

Thank you for visiting! We have put forth much effort into making this possible. In October of 2010 we began to bike to many different parks and park districts. Our blog functions to promote people's interest in Chicagoland Area Park Districts. We have already biked to 500+ parks and taken pictures of each. We hope you will use this for reference when you visit Chicagoland or rediscover your own neighborhood! The right side of the page contains links to parks we have already biked to while the blog portion contains recent trips and updates. Keep on reading, and please come back often to see our progress!

Schiller Park Parks

Schiller Park Village Background
Schiller Park sits nestled between the forest preserve and O'Hare Airport. The village itself only outdates one of them, surprisingly the airport

Fairview Park-5200 North Michigan Avenue
Undisputed, this park is the farthest north in Schiller Park.  It resides in a small residential part of town, and offers a quiet playground with a bench and a drinking fountain.
Amenities- Playground, drinking fountain, bench, open 6am to 10pm.

North Village Park-4800 North Foster Avenue
This park has one differentiator that only a kid during summer can vouch for: a water spray playground.  When its 90 degrees outside, it helps to have a water spray playground, and not have to look awkward running through your neighbor's sprinkler.  Other than that, North Village also runs through the rest of the seasons with a normal playground, and also a picnic shelter.  Becmches populate the borders of this enclosed-playground park.  Of course there also has to be a drinking founatin.
Amenities- Playground, water spray playground, drinking fountain, picnic shleter, benches, open 6am to 10pm.

Bark Park-4555 Ruby Street Dog Park Rules: http://www.villageofschillerpark.com/recreation/barkpark.aspx
Bark Park is conveniently located next to the Schiller Park Metra stop (Chicago's commuter rail system), and offers a way for neighborhood dog owners to catch up while letting their dogs catch up in an enclosed yard.  All of the restraints of the dog park are listed in a pdf on their websitr, which is linked above.
Amenities-Double dog entrance gate, drinking fountain, dog drinking fountain, dog waste bags and receptacles, benches, open 6am to sunset.

Dooley Memorial Park-4536 North Scott Street
Dooley Park is a typical neighborhood park, complete with a sailor themed playground and a basketball court.  Even though it is practically on the highway, there is a sound wall that blocks most noise.
Amenities- Basketball court, playground, drinking fountain, benches, open 6am to 10pm.

Bluthardt Recreation Center-9638 West Irving Park Road
The Recreation Center begins a string of Park District facilities on Irving park Road.  There are plenty of things to pass the time by, including a fitness center, many ball courts, as well as a game room.  The Park Registration Desk is located here also.
Amenities-Basketball court, volleyball court, racquetball court, squash court, fitness center, locker rooms, drinking fountain, game room, registration desk.

Activity Center-9630 West Irving Park Road
The Activity Center is located directly east of the recreation center, and is really an extension of those services.  They share the same parking lot and entrance.  However, they offer a preschool room, a rental room for parties and more, as well as a kitchen area.  Like most

Skate Park-9620 West Irving Park Road
On a busy street near a train bridge, the skate park attracts anyone with a bike or skateboard.  There are plenty of options such as hills. ramps, and bars.  It is also close to the Schiller Park village hall.
Amenities- Skateboarding features, drinking fountain, benches, open 6am to 10pm.

Clocktower Park-9501 West Irving Park Road
Clocktower park is placed in the middle of the action of Schiller Park.  Irving Park Road is basically their main street, and this park is so close to shops, restaurants, and more.  That makes this a perfect place to gather a group, or just take it all in.  However, it doesn't offer much more than a the time and benches.
Amenities-Founatain, drinking fountain, gazebo, benches, clock tower, open 6am to 10pm.

Stalica Park-9200 West Irving Park Road
If you are driving on River Road, chances are you will notice this park.  It is on the far esat side of Schiller Park, and really becomes the "entrance" of the city.  It serves that purpose well.  Most of the park is consumed by a softball and baseball field, as well as a sunny (and hot in the summer) playground.  The gazebo offers much needed shade so that you can stay at the park longer and pay for concessions.  Walking paths encase the whole park, and there are nice water fountains.  Stalica Park is also close by to a shopping mall with more parking and restaurants.
Amenities-Baseball/softball field, basketball court, playground, walking paths, drinking fountains, gazebo, picnic shelter, benches, concession stand, open 6am to 10pm.

Kennedy Park and Anna Montana Memorial Pool-4001 North Scott Street
Kennedy Park is on the south end of Schiller Park, and offers a well landscaped playground, albeit with not much shade.  A baseball and softball field close up the southern portion of the park.  The northern portion of the park is north of the pool, and offers other ball courts plus a parking lot.  There is also a fair amount of street parking, but much of that is for the Anna Montana Memorial pool that is connected to the park.  A concession stand serves food to people who are inside and outside of the pool with two separate windows.  The building that has the concessions also has locker rooms, drinking fountains, and a registration desk.  The pool itself has definitely stood apart from the competition.  When you first walk in, you are greeted by a zero depth entry activity pool, with then connects to a deeper portion lap style pool.  That connects to vortex style whirlpool.  The rest of the water park has a diving board, two drop slides, and a larger slide as well.  A sun deck sits right next to a water spray area to complete this nice family friendly neighborhood pool.  For more information about pool registration, please visit: http://www.villageofschillerpark.com/recreation/waterparkregistration.aspx
Amenities for park-Baseball/softball field, basketball court, volleyball court (sand), bocce ball court, playground, walking paths, benches, gazebo, drinking fountain, concession stand., open 6am to 10pm.
Amenities for pool-Registration desk, locker rooms, drinking fountain, concession stand, zero depth entry pool, lap lanes, activity pool, basketball feature, vortex style whirlpool, diving board, two drop slides, water slide, sun deck, water spray toys.
