Welcome to our Blog

Thank you for visiting! We have put forth much effort into making this possible. In October of 2010 we began to bike to many different parks and park districts. Our blog functions to promote people's interest in Chicagoland Area Park Districts. We have already biked to 500+ parks and taken pictures of each. We hope you will use this for reference when you visit Chicagoland or rediscover your own neighborhood! The right side of the page contains links to parks we have already biked to while the blog portion contains recent trips and updates. Keep on reading, and please come back often to see our progress!

Park Ridge Parks

Park Ridge City Background
Park Ridge, Illinois is nestled near O'Hare International Airport just 1/2 an hour from Downtown Chicago.  Its population is currently 37,775.  Park Ridge was originally known as Pennyville, for George Penny.  He requested that the city be renamed Brickton, because he managed a brick kiln in the city.  Later, the city changed the name from Brickton to Park Ridge for its location "on a ridge, in a park-like setting". The name was thought to be suggested by Park Ridge's first village president, George B. Carpenter.  One of the Park Ridge  schools are named after him, and the local art center is named Brickton.
